After losing my own fat cat, my brain decided the best way to honor her was turning her into fruits that would truly capture her naturally rotund shape.
Each piece begins with a real piece of fruit and my own watercolor painting process, turning the shape, color, leaves, stems, and little quirks of the fruit into a tiny cat. No two are exactly alike, and each one is painted by hand with all the charming imperfections that come with that.
They're a little silly, a little sweet, and entirely unnecessary... which is exactly why I love them.
